Top Tips for the Perfect Gift List

Some great advice from the experts for putting together the perfect Gift List...

1.  Make it Personal

Your guests will appreciate a personal and meaningful list.  Instead of asking for contributions to a "Honeymoon Fund", create a group of Honeymoon Items so that your guests can pay for a "Romantic Dinner", "Jet-ski Adventure" or "Breakfast in Bed".   Don't forget to include personal messages & descriptions with each of your gifts.

2.  Be Flexible

Having a Just the Thing gift list offers you maximum flexibility.  You can manage honeymoon, home, garden, charity and store wishes all from one central list.   Making the most of this feature will allow your guests to chose from an unlimited range of gift ideas.

3.  Make it Fun

If, like many twenty-first century couples, you've already been living together for a while, guests will not expect to buy you the traditional place settings or cutlery.  Today's couples are only limited by their imagination.  Many guests are thrilled to be asked to contribute toward a couple's honeymoon, home extension or garden renovation.  Don't forget that your gift list can cover a range of needs from things for the home, a romantic honeymoon break, home improvements or even the traditional toaster.

4.  Provide a Range of Price Points

It's always good to have a variety of price points. Don't forget to include some high priced items; people will often want to club together, or someone may want to give you something really special. As a rough guide, for 100 guests you should include at least 65 gifts to an average value of £50 each.  It is always a good idea to include a range of different priced goods from £10 upward.

5.  Be Organised

Most couples set up their gift registry approximately 4 weeks before the wedding invitations go out. This allows plenty of time for editing and adding to your list.  You will find that your guests will begin to make purchases as soon as they receive their invitations.  As well as the organised guests, you will also find others may wait until after the big day to make their purchase.  With a Just the Thing Gift Registry, you can also access your list any time 24hrs a day.  We will also keep your list active until well after the wedding to allow for late purchases.
